Shh…Presents!

by Rachel on August 3, 2009

There is nothing I can do about missing my sis, but I can take advantage of the time she is away to be sneaky!

So I am going to make some presents for my sister when she comes home.

1. A Simple Strip Quilt- Going to try to find some camo fabric or something like that. Going to  try to make it big enough to cover up with, so here’s to hoping that I can actually do that!

2. A Banner that says “Welcome Home V” (Well, it will say her actual name.) This looks pretty simple but I have a feeling that it will take me longer than the quilt.

That, along with moving and starting back to school should keep me fairly distracted.

oohhh…I made those banners too! They are so cute when they are done. If you want to “simple up” the project, you can do it with felt. They you do not have to sew the back and front together, you just use one piece for each triangle. Felt looks good from both sides.

Hehe, I stole the idea from your site, I didn’t think you would mind! I have a LOT of felt left over from when I made a felt board for my preschoolers last year, so that is a really good idea!
I also wanted to ask you-I have a whole bunch of craft foam that I don’t know what to do with. Any neat ideas?

I bought some 9×13 craft foam once too and we are still making our way thru it. we use it like construction paper. Once we made valentines out of it, just cuting and layering different size hearts. We also made a christmas tree mobile thing. Do any of your students have large motor issues? Pookie’s OT once recommended that we have him cut things other than paper, because it takes more pressure on the scissors. She suggested sand paper and cereal boxes, but I bet craft foam would work too.

Now that is an idea…I don’t have any students right now, but I will have some in the fall, maybe we could practice cutting and make stick puppets or something…that would be fun, because then we could have a puppet show!
