Today marked the beginning of my last semester of college.
It even had a nice coincidence thrown in there- the room where I attended my student teaching seminar was the room that I attended freshman orientation in four years ago. It’s funny how things come full circle. When I sat in that room four years ago, I felt like college would never end…sitting there today, I realized that freshman orientation feels like it just happened yesterday.
I am so excited to see that there is light at the end of the tunnel- I’ll be out of this place in 15 weeks. Thrilling! However, it is also a little bit scary…I know that the next few months are going to be a roller coaster ride of cover letters, resumes, interviews, high heeled shoes, business suits, and portfolios. That is going to be something very different from my previous job-acquiring experiences, which I’ll admit, were very easy. (I’ve been hired on the spot three times.)
So yes, I am nervous about the whole interviewing and searching process, but so, so excited to be able to put school behind me for awhile. I had thought that I would be pursuing my master’s degree starting in the summer, but once I got back in the classroom last semester, I just couldn’t imagine NOT doing it next fall. I want to get a little experience first before choosing what kind of master’s I want to pursue.
I know that this semester is going to be a lot of work, but I am excited about the type of work that I will be doing, so it is OK.
Knowing that there will be a cap and gown in my near future is going to make this semester fly by.
